Sydney Sweeney doesn’t quite have a meet-cute in the first promo for her Saturday Night Live hosting debut.
The actress will host the sketch comedy show for the first time with musical guest Kacey Musgraves, who returns to the stage of the NBC series for the third time.
In a promo for this weekend’s episode, the Anyone But You star and SNL castmember Michael Longfellow are seen walking through Studio 8H. She’s reading a book, and he’s running through a list of jokes that are either not funny enough or too funny when they suddenly bump into each other, and everything goes flying.

“Oh my god, Kafka on the Shore,” Longfellow says before he falls into a daze where he begins thinking about what this meet-cute could be. “This is one of my favorite books of all time. This is crazy, but would you ever, maybe wanna… Oh. She left a while ago, cool,” he says as Sweeney walks away. “Whatever. I didn’t like this book anyway.”
Sweeney’s hosting debut comes on the heels of the actress starring in Madame Web and Anyone But You, the latter of which became a rom-com hit — thanks, in part, to TikTok. Sweeney stars opposite Glen Powell in the film, which follows Bea and Ben as they unexpectedly find themselves at a destination wedding, following an amazing first date that quickly turns sour.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Euphoria star teased there was “a high nine chance” that there would be an Anyone But You sequel.
Musgraves returns to SNL, following the announcement of her first EP in three years, Deeper Well, which will release March 15.
