The gang is all here as James Gunn shares the first cast photo for Superman: Legacy.
Gunn took to Instagram on Thursday to post an image taken following the first table read for Warner Bros.‘ upcoming superhero film that is set for theatrical release on July 11, 2025. The pic includes himself and Peter Safran, who were named co-chairs of DC Studios in 2022, in addition to castmembers including David Corenswet (the new Man of Steel), Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane) and Nicholas Hoult (sporting a shaved head to play Lex Luthor).

“After the table read with the #Superman cast,” Gunn captioned the post. “Eve, Mr. Terrific, Superman/Clark, Otis, Lex, producer Peter Safran, Jimmy, Metamorpho, Lois, Hawkgirl, me, Guy, The Engineer all together for the first time! What a wonderful day.”
Also pictured in the group photo are Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Terence Rosemore (Otis), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner) and María Gabriela de Faría (The Engineer).
Fillion quipped in the comments, “It feels like this was only yesterday.”
One name associated with Gunn and Safran’s initial slate of DC Universe projects — dubbed Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters — who does not appear in the photo is Milly Alcock, set to star as the title hero for the feature Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The Hollywood Reporter reported last month that Supergirl is likely to pop up in at least one DC Studios project prior to leading her own film, but it was unclear at the time if that would be Superman: Legacy.
In December, Gunn posted a photo of himself and Hoult breaking bread in honor of the Mad Max: Fury Road actor joining the film. Gunn captioned the post at the time, “We went out to dinner last night to celebrate & discuss how we can create a Lex that will be different from anything you’ve seen before and will never forget.”
Superman: Legacy will mark the first theatrical solo feature for the superhero since Henry Cavill donned the red cape in a number of films. Cavill debuted his version of the character in Zack Snyder’s 2013 title Man of Steel.
