Osea is celebrating this leap year with deep discounts on its seaweed-infused skin-care.
Now through March 3, the Malibu-based clean beauty brand is turning back the clock on its website and bringing 1996 prices to Hollywood-loved best-sellers. That means you can save up to 30 percent off the Undaria Algae Body Oil (a favorite of Victoria Beckham and makeup artist Erin Parsons), the Atmosphere Protection Cream (used by Emma Roberts and Jessica Biel), the Essential Hydrating Oil (Kylie Jenner has raved about it) and more — all while scrolling through the “vintage” design that kids these days call “vaporwave.” (Is it just us old millennials, or does the Geocities aesthetic also bring comfort to your online shopping experience?)

Launched in 1996 by Jenefer Palmer, Osea the brand is known for its cruelty-free, vegan formulas that harness the nourishing, skin-protecting properties of algae. The Leaping Bunny-approved brand uses a proprietary blend of seaweed — such as gigartina, macrocystis and undaria — that contain antioxidants that help to reduce skin damage caused by free radicals, which affect the aging process.
In addition to being spotted in the GRWM tutorials of countless stars, the brand has enjoyed cameos on the big screen, too. Palmer previously recounted to The Hollywood Reporter how Osea’s minor role in Legally Blonde 2 prompted star Reese Witherspoon to start using the products. In 2003, she met a 20th Century Fox executive on the sales floor of Fred Segal on Melrose. “She told me the storyline of the movie, Elle going to DC to protest animal testing, so I called PETA and asked if the other company [being considered for the product placement] tested on animals and they said yes. Bingo!” Palmer says. “ And then Reese Witherspoon used the products. That was a really exciting moment for me.”
Osea has a long history of advocating for safety in the beauty industry. It became the first company to sign the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, and Palmer herself testified at the California State Assembly to support the California Safe Cosmetics Act. The company has also worked with the Environmental Working Group and Breast Cancer Fund, and in 2020 it became Climate Neutral Certified and offsets 100 percent of its carbon footprint. In 2022 it also teamed with Seatrees to become the first beauty company to become Ocean Positive Certified.

The company says, “to create this one-of-a-kind oil, we soak hand-harvested undaria algae in barrels of oils to infuse the vitamins and minerals.” Marvels star Brie Larson also reportedly loves the product.
