SAG Awards: Margot Robbie, Bradley Cooper, America Ferrera and More Stars Walk the Red Carpet

Questions abounded before the red carpet opened at Saturday’s 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, and not only about who would take home the coveted trophies awarded via votes from their fellow actors.

An element every other awards-show producer surely will be watching: How will the SAG Awards, staged at the Shrine Auditorium, perform on Netflix, the first paid subscription service not offering a free broadcast or online-viewing option during the 2024 awards season? And how will the streaming giant’s viewership formula translate to live-event ratings?

But with an awards ceremony that’s squarely focused on performers, other questions include what bit of comedy might arise when Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt reunite onstage as presenters, an homage to the trio’s delicious chemistry in 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada. (Fans of the film are hopeful for an advance pop-in by Stanley Tucci, announcing as his character famously did in the film, “Gird your loins!”) And with Barbra Streisand receiving the SAG Life Achievement Award — presented to the EGOT legend by Jennifer Aniston — anyone who follows the multihyphenate star on X (formerly Twitter) is surely wondering how her speech might address the current political climate.

Also, might SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher receive a standing ovation when she arrives onstage as thanks for her tireless work during the 2023 strike? On the style front, will best actress nominee Margot Robbie once again pay tribute to Barbie with her red-carpet look? And will Colman Domingo, a best-actor nominee for Rustin, continue his season of best-dressed accolades with his SAG Awards look?
